Measles Outbreak

Christmastime at Disneyland in California was a time for families to enjoy the magic of Disney, however it was also time that was spent spreading the Measles virus. 42 confirmed cases have been linked to the initial exposure in Disneyland, of which, 5 cases are present in Arizona at four healthcare facilities in Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila counties. This recent spread of Measles could have been significantly lessened or even prevented if more people had received their MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine. Now is a time to reiterate the importance of vaccinating your children. Some diseases which once injured thousands of children, such as Measles, are close to extinction because of vaccines. Talk to your health care provider today or make an appointment with MHC Healthcare (520-682-4111) if you have any questions or concerns about vaccinating your child.
